Arthur Barbosa - Composer

"The power of the south lives at Brazilian Symphony. " With this title, the Austrian newspaper "Karntner Tageszeitung", opens its musical critic of the day May 24 of 2008, referring to the huge success and the warm opening which was received such pieces in its European premiere accomplished in that country. And that is the way which has been each presentation or premiere of the pieces of this composer, Brazilian, who lived in Chile, in Argentina which has been dedicated hardly to research of several musical manifestations in Latin America, and incorporated all of this great diversity to his compositions, that is why his academic work has always a strong content and an intentional character allusive to popular music of this continent.

      Arthur Barbosa is a violinist, however as a composer he had classes with some of the great masters among them Hans Koelheuter, but he considers himself a self-taught in his essence. His works have been executed in more than fifteen countries including the United States, Argentina, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Hungary among others, performed by orchestras like Bern Camerata (Switerland), Klagenfurt Symphony Orchestra (Austria), Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra (Brazil), Mendoza Symphony Orchestra (Argentina), Southern Mississipi Symphony Orchestra (USA), Symphony of the Americas (Florida-USA) and Ulbra Chamber Orchestra among others.

      Since 2003 he has been working as a Resident Composer at Musica nas Montanhas Music Festival in Poços de Caldas (Brazil). In this festival, Arthur Barbosa is also a teacher of composition and has the opportunity to have first auditions of his music every year.

      He has also been pointed in composing at soundtracks for films, plays and contemporary dance and was indicated to several local awards and winner of others. In his Academic Compositions Brochure have symphonies, soloist concertos, musicals, overtures, trios, quartets, string orchestra works and other ensembles.

      Since 2006, Barbosa has been working hard as a conductor with several groups and having the opportunity to conduct his own works and else the traditional repertoire.

      In 2011, the complete work of Arthur Barbosa in its nationalist characteristics will be the main theme on a Doctorate thesis of a Brazilian conductor Jean Reis at Southern Mississipi University (USA).
